Daily Bible Verse and Devotion- November 8

“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” – Romans 3:22 (NLT)

The fact that we have been made right with God is such great news. Regardless of who we are, or what we had done, we needed a savior, Jesus Christ.

When we place our trust in Jesus as our savior the Bible tells us that we are made right with God. That means that despite what we’ve done or who we are, we are in right standing with God. This place of right standing with God comes by simply placing your trust in Jesus as savior. You simply need to believe that what Jesus dying on the cross was the payment for your sin. By accepting what Jesus did, you become right with God.

Knowing that you’ve been made right with God can greatly change your outlook on life. It’s easy to focus on what’s going wrong in your life or how the current circumstances you’re facing are making things difficult. The truth is that when we focus on how we’ve been made right with God it helps us change our outlook. We know that no matter what we’re going through right now, we can get through it because we’ve been made right with God.

So today remember, it doesn’t matter who you are, what you’ve done, or what you do. When you put your faith in Jesus you’re made right with God!

How Do I Know If God Is Real?

Have you ever questioned God’s existence? If you have you are not alone. Many people wonder the same thing. So how can we know if God really exists?

Let’s start by looking at an everyday example. If you’re like many teenagers, you probably have a gaming system in your house. The XBox or Playstation at your home is complex and has lots of small complicated parts that make it work. It has controllers, a hard drive, and tons of wiring. All those complicated pieces have to function together to make the game work properly. All the parts that go into making the game are to complex to just have “happened” one day. Your XBOX didn’t just show up in your living room. It had to be put together…it had to be created. The complexity of the game system shows that it had to have a creator..

In the same way our world is complex. The trees, the oceans, animals and people that make it up are way too complex to just have “happened”.

We can see that there was evidence of a creator in the world around us, but it is up to us to choose to believe that creator was God. There is nothing that 100 percent proves God’s existence. There is no scientific study that proves that God is real. If there was every person would believe God exists.

We have to take what we see in creation and read about God in the Bible and we have to choose to believe it. That’s really the definition of faith.

The Bible says it like this: “By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” (Hebrews 11:3 NLT)

We see evidence of God’s existence all around us everyday. The trees, the sun, the birds, all speak of a great creator. When you wonder if God is there or if He really does care about you, stop for a minute and examine the creation around you. God took the time to create each animal and plant and most of all He took time to create you. Take some time today to thank God for everything He has made.

What Traffic Lights Can Teach You About Getting To Heaven

Traffic lights are a pretty fantastic invention. Without traffic lights, driving would be nuts! Vehicles wouldn’t know when to stop and when to go. Traffic lights help keep traffic flowing smoothly and help reduce accidents on the road. They are able to show us when and where to go and are really very useful!

Jesus is a lot like a traffic light. Not that He’s made out of metal and wires, but in the way he shows us the way to go to heaven. A traffic light guides traffic by its colored lights. For example, when the traffic light is green, drivers know its time to go. The yellow light tells drivers to go forward with caution. And if the light is red drivers know they should stop. That’s a lot like Jesus because in the Bible, He shows us that He is the way to heaven.

Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me. – John 14:6 (ERV)

Jesus shows us clearly in that verse that the only way to get to God is through Him. Some people believe that Jesus is one of many ways to God. However, that’s not what the Bible teaches. The Bible clearly states that Jesus is the only way to God. Just like each color of the traffic light means one thing, the one way to God is through Jesus.

When it comes to getting into heaven, there are not multiple ways to get there. There is one way to be saved, and that is through Jesus. A red traffic light doesn’t mean stop sometimes and go other times. No, it always means stop to drivers. The same is true with Jesus. He is always the way to heaven. He’s not one of multiple ways to get there, He is the only way.

If you haven’t already, decide to believe that Jesus is the way to God. Choose to accept Him and the fact that He is the way to heaven.

If you pay attention as they speak you can read along in your Bible as they reference a scripture. Sometimes, you can pick up where they left off and keep reading in the Bible. Lots of these pastors and ministers offer teaching you can listen to online. By listening to the teaching, you are getting God’s word into your heard, which will help you grow spiritually.

We’ve got lots of great resources too on our website to help you grow in your relationship with God. We offer video devotions and teaching, audio devotions, written devotions, and discipleship tracks to help you get started in your walk with God. Depending on how you like learning the best, you can pick a way that you like and get started getting into the Bible.

You can search online for other good ministries to listen to. The main thing to watch for is that they teach from the Bible and put their focus on Jesus as savior and Lord of their life.

Don’t let any excuses stop you from reading the Bible. Challenge yourself to not be lazy, but to get into the Bible in some way or another everyday.

Who is God?

Have you ever wished that you could see God? Touch Him? Go grab some coffee with Him and chat about the meaning of life? Sometimes, its easy when you feel you can’t see or touch God to wonder who is He? What’s He really like?

One of the best ways to get to know God is by reading or listening to the Bible. While that’s not the fun solution, its the best way you can get to know who He is an what He really likes. Getting into the Bible does take a little bit of work. Its not for the weak. It might mean setting some time aside when you’d rather be on Facebook or Twitter. It may mean refocusing your energy, or putting your phone away for ten minutes so you can focus without having to respond to a text.

By reading the Bible you can get to know who God is. And one of the best things about God is that He is love. Check out this verse:

Wow. What a God. The fact that he loved us enough to sent his son Jesus for us even before we loved him back is incredible. We wouldn’t do anything close to that for someone else. We wouldn’t trade our most valuable possession for someone who was our enemy. Yet that’s what God did. While we had no love for God, He stepped in and gave everything He had. He put it all on the line so that we might have the chance to have eternal life through Jesus. Talk about love!

So the next time you’re wondering about God, who He is and what He’s in to, remember that you can always go to the Bible to find answers. Its also important to remind ourselves that God is love. He loved us so much that He put everything He had on the line to pay the price for our sins. There is no one else who could love you the way God does. So challenge yourself to go deeper into the Bible and get to know more about God!

What Makes Christianity Awkward?

There are lots of different religions in our world today. I’ve seen estimates there are around 20 major religions and many other minor religions in the world. With all those religions out there, what makes Christianity awkward or different from all the rest?

The answer is simple. Many of the religions in our world are seeking to DO the right things. They believe if they DO enough good things and right things they will gain heaven, enlightenment, or some other sort of reward.

Christianity is different. Its awkward. Its not like the other religions because its not about DOING.

Christianity takes DOING and turns it on its head. Instead of having to DO the right things to gain heaven or a reward, Christianity focuses on what has already been DONE. In true Christianity, you can’t DO anything to earn heaven. True Christianity says its all about what has been DONE. Its simply accepting Jesus and believing that His death on the cross was enough to pay for all your sins. It switches from DOING something to earn a reward to what Jesus has DONE.

Christianity is awkward because its different. Unlike many of the other religions there is nothing you can DO to make yourself right with God. Its all about accepting what has been DONE. That’s hard to do. Its easier to feel like you should DO something to make yourself right with God. The truth is, its all about believing what God says over what you feel. That takes courage, and it can feel awkward at times.

Christianity is different because it is about what God DID. When we DO things its not to receive heaven or a reward, its in response to what God has already DONE. That’s what makes Christianity great!

Pray: God, I thank you that being a Christian isn’t about doing the right things, but its just simply believing and receiving what you’ve done by sending your son Jesus. I choose to live each day doing good things, not because I’m earning salvation, but because of what you’ve already done for me.

How To Become A Christian

Becoming a Christian is one of the best decisions you could ever make. It isn’t about church membership or doing enough good things, it is simply taking advantage of a free gift that God gives, salvation. He offers it to any person that asks Him.

God wants a relationship with you! You can start a relationship with God by simply asking Him to be the Lord or the boss of your life. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10 – “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”

God makes becoming a Christian easy. You simply have to believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and speak or confess that with your mouth. If you’d like to make Jesus the Lord of your life, simply pray this prayer: Jesus, I believe you are the son of God. I know that you died on the cross for me and you took away my sins. I believe that now I am your child. I choose to follow you from this day forward. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
