Can you think of a time in your life when you’ve been really discouraged? Moses felt this way in today’s Bible verse.
In Exodus 6:1 God give Moses encouragement. God tells him, “Now you shall see what I will do…” Moses had been discouraged by failure and by reports that nothing was changing.
When you face discouragement, it’s easy to focus on obstacles—the people who doubt you, the tests that won’t change, the inner voice that says you’ve blown it. But God is always working for good for us. And just like Moses, if we will believe, we will see Him move in our lives.
As a teen, you face school stress, shifting friendships, family conflict, and choices that feel huge. You may feel like no matter what you do, you’re always making mistakes. Exodus 6:1 says otherwise. God is not surprised by your struggles, and He does not abandon you when plans stall. Sometimes the next step is waiting for God’s timing; sometimes it’s obeying despite fear. Either way, God’s faithfulness doesn’t depend on your perfect performance.
Today, challenge yourself to pray honestly—tell God your frustration and ask for courage. Take one small obedient step today—send the message you’ve avoided, study for that test, or show kindness to someone who’s hard to love. Look back at times God acted in your life or others’ lives and let those reminders fuel hope.
