Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – John 11:24

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. – John 11:25 (NLT)

Have you ever noticed when you’re really used to something sometimes you forget that it exists? For example, in my town right now, they are restoring a lot of our main street. There are buildings that I’ve driven past for years, but because of the new paint and windows, I’m starting to notice how interesting they are. I was so used to them, that I didn’t even really notice them all that much.

I think it’s easy to do the same thing with Jesus and our salvation. If you’ve been in church for a while it’s easy to miss the fact that Jesus is the resurrection and life. It’s easy to become so used to hearing these words that they don’t mean anything special to you.

Today, challenge yourself to not just let these be just words. Instead, really think about them. Let them become real to you. Think about the fact that Jesus is our way to God. We couldn’t come to God except through Him. Because of Jesus, we can fellowship with God in a new way.

Today’s Truth: Jesus is the resurrection and the life!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – John 3:16

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life – John 3:16

This verse is one of the most popular verses in the Bible. In fact, it’s used so much, it’s almost easy to read it and take it for granted. We are so used to everyone stating the fact that God loves us that we don’t really let it sink in.

So let’s think about this idea for a bit. God loves you. He doesn’t have to love you. But He does. You never did anything for God, but God went out of His way to love you. He pursued you when you didn’t deserve it. He loved you when you were unlovable.

He did this so that you could enjoy eternal life with Him. You can talk to Him, walk with Him, and enjoy eternity with Him.

So today, let this verse sink in. Don’t just read it and ignore it because you’ve heard it so many times. Instead, choose to think about the fact that God chose you. He chose to love you even when you didn’t deserve it.

Today’s Truth: God loves you!

John 3:16

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion on Knowing Jesus

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death – Phil 3:10

When I was about 15 years old, I went to visit Poland. While I was there I had the chance to visit the concentration camps where millions of people had been killed while the Nazis were in power. I had read and learned about the concentration camps in school, but it wasn’t until I went there and saw it for myself and learned about it that it became real to me. Now when I read about concentration camps, its not just history facts, its real to me because I’ve been there.

That’s a lot like what Paul is talking about here in this verse. He’s talking about how we can now have a new perspective when it comes to knowing Jesus. That Jesus can be real to us. This verse talks about knowing Jesus, knowing the power of the resurrection, his sufferings and his death. This verse is talking about it becoming real to us. When something is real to you, you get excited about it, you tell others about it.

Jesus is someone we can know. We can identify with Him and He can real to us. So take time today to make knowing Jesus important to you. Choose to think about the power of his resurrection and all the awesome things that God has made available to you!

How To Know You’ll Go To Heaven When You Die

 • One day you’ll stop breathing and die. Do you know where you’ll go?
 • The Bible shows us a clear path to heaven – through Jesus
 • Jesus’ death was payment for our sins and gave us a ticket to heaven.

If you’re not sure that if you died today that you would go to heaven, you can know. The way to heaven isn’t about doing the right things or having your good outweigh your bad, rather its about believing that Jesus’ death was payment for your sins.

Toast – What Happens When You Die?

Have you ever left toast in the toaster for too long? Maybe you got distracted and went back to check the toaster only to find that you had burnt the snot out of your toast? The only thing it is good for now is being used as a hockey puck. Burnt toast tastes just plain nasty.

Devotion for Teens on Life after death and hellBurnt toast can sort of show us what happens when we die. See, when we die, we go to one of two places: Heaven or Hell. And the choice of where we go is up to us. It’s just a matter of choosing Jesus to be your savior or not. For those who don’t choose Jesus, they go to hell. Essentially, they become burnt toast.

And there are lots of ideas out there about what hell is like. Some people think its a party and they’ll spend all their time hanging out with friends and living the party lifestyle. Unfortunately, they’re wrong. Hell isn’t a party. Its a horrible place. The Bible describes it like this:
…throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” – Matthew 13:50
When described this way, hell doesn’t sound like a party. It sounds like there’s going to be people crying and grinding their teeth together. Totally not the party with friends that people are talking about!

Even though hell is not a fun place, the good news is that you do not have to go there, you don’t have to become burnt toast. If you decide to make Jesus the Lord of your life you can spend eternity with Him in heaven. Which will be way more fun! Choose to accept what Jesus did for you and ask Him to be the Lord of your life.

To get started, pray this prayer:
“Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I believe that Jesus is your son. I believe that He died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. I accept Jesus right now as my Lord and savior. I ask Him to come into my heart and to be the Lord of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, and meant it, Jesus is now your savior, the Lord of your life. And you will now go to heaven when you die…so there go the worries about being burnt toast! Your next steps should be getting plugged into a local church that preaches the Bible and also getting your hands on a Bible to begin getting to know this Jesus who is now the Lord or boss of your life!!

What Google Maps has to Say About Life After Death

20130913-190644.jpg
Using Google maps can be kind of addicting. Its so much fun to be able to punch in a location and instantly see what is located near it and the best way is to get there.

We can use Google maps as an illustration to answer a question that lots of people have, “Why Would a loving God send someone to hell when they die?” This a really good question. If we see in the Bible that God is good and loves everyone, why does He allow people go to hell?

I think Google maps can help us answer that question. When you use Google maps, it asks you to pick a destination. Google maps doesn’t automatically fill in a destination for you or choose for you where you should go. Rather it lets you choose and make a decision where you want to go. That is exactly what God does. God doesn’t send anyone to hell and doesn’t want anyone to go to hell. But He doesn’t force an eternal destination on us. He leaves it up to us to choose.

We can choose to follow after God and accept that Jesus is the son of God, making Him The Lord of our lives. Or we can choose to ignore Jesus and not accept Him as The Lord of our lives. That choice determines our eternal destination.

Romans 3:25 –For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding His blood.

Just like getting directions from Google maps, we have to decide in life our eternal destination. Choose to make heaven your destination by making Jesus to be The Lord of your life.
