Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Hebrews 10:23

We must continue to hold firmly to our declaration of faith. The one who made the promise is faithful. – Hebrews 10:23 (GW)

I remember one time I was completing a ropes course to train for a missions trip. The final obstacles was to climb up a huge climbing wall. About halfway up the wall and I began thinking to myself this was a lot harder than I had imagined.  Honestly, I wanted to give up. My body was so tired, and it was so hot. However, in that moment, I hung on to the side of that wall with all my might. I wasn’t going to let go or give up.

That’s a lot like what we are told to do in this verse. We’re told to hang on to our faith. Whether its faith in Jesus, or believing for a promise that’s found in God’s word. We are encouraged to hold on to those things, and not let go even when things get tough.

The reason we can hold on so tightly is that we know that God is faithful.  The dictionary online defined faithful like this: deserving trust : keeping your promises or doing what you are supposed to do. That’s why we can hold on to our faith in God. He is a good God who deserves our trust and who keeps His promises.

Today’s Truth: We can trust in God because He keeps His promises to us.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Proverbs 14:4

Without oxen a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest.
– Proverbs 14:4

Sometimes, it can be easy to want to do big things alone. Maybe you’ve got a group project at school you’re working on and it’s just really difficult to want to involve the help of others. However, if you are wanting to do something truly significant, you’ll need the help of others to get it done. The problem with including others is that it often can get messy. Dealing with others can be challenging. It’s tempting to just decide to do it yourself. Today’s Bible verse is letting us know that a wise person will get help to accomplish something bigger than he or she could on their own. Including others can be tough because you have to get along and clean up messes along the way. However, getting help from others is worth the mess!

Today’s Truth: A wise person will get help to accomplish something bigger than he could do on his own

Isn’t it awesome that God shares with us wisdom like this? Today, think about the project that is in your heart to accomplish. Who could you invite to help you? What resource do you need to invest in to help with your project? Realize that including resources from others will bring much more increase in your endeavors than trying to accomplish it all by yourself.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Luke 6:38

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full–pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” – Luke 6:38

It can be really easy to get caught in the trap of getting. You might be saving for new shoes, a new phone, or for a new car. Getting things can seem really important at times, however, the Bible encourages us to not make getting the main priority in your life.

Instead, the Bible encourages us to be givers. And the awesome part about being a giver is that God rewards those who give. So when you give, you’re not throwing away your time or money. Everything you give to God is always given back to you in many ways. God wants to reward you for your giving.

So decide today to make giving a habit in your life. Choose to begin to give and see how God will provide and reward you for your faithfulness to give.

Today’s Truth: Making Giving a Part of Your Life

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Luke 5:13

Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. – Luke 5:13 (NLT)

This man asked a question in the previous verse (Luke 5:12). He said, “I know you can but are you willing”. When faced with a problem, we often know that God can heal, forgive or help us but we struggle with wondering if He is willing. Jesus was God in the flesh and He was showing mankind that He is willing to help, heal and forgive.

We also can be tricked by the devil into believing that God would be willing to do it for others but not for us. We wonder if we’ve been too bad or haven’t done enough good things to receive. However, this is not the attitude of Jesus. He is the reason we can receive anything from God. We receive when we believe in Him and what He did not on what we have done or haven’t done.

Today’s Truth: Jesus is able and willing to help, heal, forgive and restore.

Today is your day to believe God and know that He is not only able to help, heal, forgive and restore you but that He is WILLING!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Proverbs 29:25

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. – Proverbs 29:25

It’s easy to let what people think about you stop you from doing the right thing. When you spend all your time worrying about what others think, you can become trapped. Instead of letting the fear of others keep you from saying or doing the right thing, decide to put your trust in God.

When you put your trust in God, it brings you safety. You can trust that God will always provide the friendships you need.

Today’s Truth: Don’t let the fear of others stop you from doing what’s right

Even when it’s hard, decide to not let the fear of others determine the choices you make. Instead, choose today to do what you know is right. Put your trust in God and see how God can come through for you.

Fear of man

Today’s Bible Verse and Devotion – Matthew 6:25

Are you living today thinking about a problem? Are your thoughts pre-occupied with a situation and you keep trying to figure out what to do? I have good news for you. God knows the answer to your problem and knows how to fix it. Why don’t you just stop thinking about it and start to talk to God about it? Excessive thinking can be a symptom of worry.

Jesus said “ Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink, nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?” Matthew 6:25 Jubilee Bible

You may be tempted to “ take thought”- or worry about the situation. But right now I want you to know God cares about it. Why not take a moment and simply say “Father, I’ m sorry I’ve been worried about this situation. But here it is……(state the problem). Father, I don’t know how to fix it but I know you do. So I’m asking you to give me wisdom to know what to do. I’m asking You to work in this situation for me because I can’t do anything about it. And So from now on when I think about it- I say God, you are working on it and I won’t worry about it anymore. Thank You Father and from now on I’m going to set my thoughts on the fact that You care for me and are working this out.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – James 5:16

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. – James 5:16

Today’s Bible verse is an awesome encouragement. The last part of the verse talks about the prayers of a righteous person. We know from the Bible that if we’ve accepted Jesus then we’ve been made righteous, so this verse is talking to Christians.

This verse tells us that as Christians our prayers aren’t just some words that we hope that God hears and does something about. No, it shows us that our prayers produce wonderful results.

Today’s Truth: When you pray, God hears you, and your prayers produce good results!

That means when you pray, you can know that God hears you and that your prayers are producing something! Be encouraged today to keep praying and believing God because your prayers work!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Teen Devotion and Bible Verse on Who You Are In Christ

What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

We all like new stuff, it’s just human nature. Whether it’s getting those new shoes you’ve been wanting or trying the food at a new restaurant, there’s just something exciting about things that are new.

Have you ever thought about the fact that when you become a Christian, you’ve become new? Your hair doesn’t change color, and you don’t get some crazy new personality, but the old life you had before Christ is gone. Now when God sees you, he sees you new, perfect, and free from sin.

Knowing this changes the way you see yourself. You might look in the mirror and see someone who has messed up and is imperfect. The truth is, God doesn’t look at your failures. He looks at you through Jesus. In Jesus, He sees someone who is perfect. Today, choose to see yourself as He does. Choose to look past your shortcomings and see the person that God sees. A person that is full of potential and made new in Jesus.

Today’s Truth: When God sees you, He sees you perfect and free from sin!

Take a few moments today to thank God for making you new!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 1 John 4:4

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. – 1 John 4:4

The last thing you probably want to think about right now on summer break is math. But, just for the sake of illustration today, let’s think back to the early elementary math that you learned. Do you recall learning about greater than, less than, and equal to? And when one number was bigger than the other, you called that number the greater number?

In the same way, in life, we have something greater. Not a greater number, but you do have the greater one living on the inside of you. That means that when you face a difficult situation, you’re not facing it alone. You’ve got someone to help you, to lead you, and to help you overcome.

When life gets tough and it feels like you can’t make it through, you can be encouraged. You’ve got what you need to be a success and overcome in every area of your life.

Choose today to lean on the help of the greater one living in you. You can know that no matter what you face today, you’re not alone and you can overcome!

Today’s Truth: You’re not alone. You have the greater one living in you!
