Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Matthew 6:33

Daily Bible verse with devotion on seeking first the Kingdom of God

33 Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33 (CEB)

We all have many things pulling us in different directions. We want to do good in school so we can get a good job. We want a good job so we have plenty of money in life. We want to get married and live a happy life. We want to make our life count and live for God. How do we balance it all? Jesus answers this question with this verse. Instead of trying to find the balance of which things to put our focus on, He makes it simple by saying to first focus on God’s kingdom and His righteousness and all these other things in life will be given to you.

What does it mean to focus on God’s kingdom and His righteousness first? This means spending time with God and His ways of doing things. The primary way you do this is by reading the Bible. Taking time each day to really focus your attention on a portion of scripture and then thinking about it will help you know God’s heart and what He is all about.

The promise of this verse is that when you put your focus on God’s Word and His way of doing things first, all the other concerns of your life will begin to fall into place. You can then have the peace of knowing that you do not have to keep it all in order, God will. God supernaturally takes care of all your life’s concerns when you put His concern’s first.

Today, choose to put God’s Word and His Kingdom first. It might take some time before all your other things in your life all get aligned by God, but know that in time He will make sure that all the things you were concerned about are taken care of.
