Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Luke 9:25

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? – Luke 9:25

Many times we put a lot of importance on what we do. We want to date the right person, drive the right car, or wear the right clothes. Sometimes our whole life is consumed with getting all the ‘right things’.

The problem with all this is, if your success and worth is defined by what you have or what you do, you will always be disappointed. If success is found in relationships, what happens if you never find a person who makes you feel complete? In the same way, if you think success is found in money, what if you never make enough money to make you happy?  True happiness can’t be found in things or what you do. True happiness and success is found in knowing Jesus.

Today’s Truth: True happiness is found in knowing Jesus

So spend some time today getting to know Jesus. When you invest time getting to know Jesus, you’ll see that you’re happier and more fulfilled.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Colossians 1:9

School Success for Teens - Col 1:9 - DevotionAnd so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, – Col 1:9 (ESV)

Have you ever been sitting in school, learning a new subject and feel really overwhelmed? Maybe you felt like you weren’t learning things as fast as the students around you. That can be really discouraging. It’s scary to not understand a subject or feel like you’re falling behind in class.

Learning new things can be difficult, but the Bible does give us some encouragement about this. Today’s Bible verse tells us that we’ve been given a spirit of wisdom and understanding. And while this verse is often used in making big decisions like which career to choose or who to date, it can also be helpful when you struggle at school.

God loves you, and He wants to help you to understand things. He can show you ways to understand difficult subjects. He can help you when you struggle. So instead of giving up and feeling overwhelmed, today choose to go to God and ask Him for wisdom in your studies.

Today’s Truth: God wants to help you become successful at school

He may show you a new way to study, or help you find a YouTube video that explains a complicated math concept. Whatever it is, God wants to help guide you with your schoolwork. So today, if you’re struggling, go to Him for help. He wants to show you ways to succeed at school!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Proverbs 17:24

Intelligent people think about what needs to be done here and now. Fools are always dreaming about faraway places – Proverbs 17:24 (ERV)

How many times have you spent hours wishing you were somewhere else. I used to always wish that I was done with high school and out of my parent’s house. I just felt that I wanted freedom and I wanted to get on with my life. However, this verse tells us that dreaming about things like that makes us a fool. To spend time thinking and wishing you were somewhere else is not productive. If you spend all your time unhappy because of where you are in life and never do anything about it, nothing will change.

Instead of spending all your time wishing you were somewhere else doing something else, choose to do what the first part of this verse says. Choose to focus on what can be done now. Think about things you can be doing now to make a difference or to help someone else out. If you spend your time doing this, then you are intelligent.

As this verse says, taking action and planning right where you are now is always more powerful than dreaming of wanting to be somewhere else. Your purpose is not fulfilled just longing for a better place to be. Instead, choose to see the opportunities right in front of you and begin making plans and taking action. You’ll be glad you did. Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 2 Timothy 1:7

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. – 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

We usually hear today’s verse in light of fear. However, it can help us with success also when it comes to school. Have you noticed in school sometimes it’s really hard to be present when your teacher is speaking? Maybe it’s a lecture on the most boring history period known to man and there’s nothing you’d rather do than check out.

Today’s verse mentions that we’ve been given self-control. That means we can control ourselves even when the teacher is boring.

Tip #5 – Show Up

Today’s tip for success at school is to show up. Your body might be in your seat, but often, mentally you’re checked out. You’re thinking about what’s for lunch or who might ask you to the dance.

Instead of letting your mind wander during class, be determined to show up mentally. It’s amazing how good you can do on a test if you’ve really paid attention in class.

So today, if you’ve gotten in the bad habit of not being present mentally, remind yourself of today’s verse. Realize that you have self-control and you can determine to pay attention. You’ll be impressed at how your grades will improve if you show up mentally to class.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalm 5:12

Bible Verse and Devotion on Blessing the righteous with favor

Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. – Psalm 5:12 (NIV)

At school, you come into contact with lots of people. Teachers, principals, other students.

God wants you to walk in His favor at school. He wants people to go out of their way to bless and help you. So if you want to be a success at school, believe God for favor.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Daniel 1:17

Success at School Teen Devotion - Daneil 1:17To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. – Daniel 1:17 (NIV)

For some reason, math was always a tough subject for me. I think I missed learning something in middle school, which led me to being a little behind all the way through high school.

You might struggle with a subject at school and it can cause you a lot of anxiety. However, you don’t need to let your lack of understanding limit you. Instead, you can go to God for help.

Choose to ask God for a plan to help you understand better.

Tip #3 – Believe For Understanding

God supernaturally gave the young men in the Bible verse above understanding. He helped them learn and stand out from the rest of their peers.

God can do the same for you. With a little work on your part and teaming up with God and believing for understanding, you can see your grades improve.

So today, if there’s a subject that’s hard for you, ask God for understanding. Ask Him to show you what you’re missing so that it makes sense to you. Then do the extra that it might take to get caught up. Maybe you’ll need to watch a few math YouTube videos or ask if your teacher can help you make a plan to get caught up.

God wants you to understand and to do well at school.

So go into school today with confidence, believing that you understand the things that are taught.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Proverbs 18:21

Teen Devotion and Bible Verse on The Power of YOur Words

What you say can mean life or death. Those who speak with care will be rewarded. – Proverbs 18:21 (NCV)

We want your school year to go great. So with that in mind, we created some tips to help you be a success at school this year. Today’s tip is about speaking life over yourself.

Maybe you have trouble in math. Or perhaps you struggle making new friends. Whatever you are weak in becomes an area where you can begin to speak death over your situation.

For example, if math is hard, you might begin to say things like, “I’m no good at math. I’ll never understand it.” speaking words like that won’t produce good results in your life. Instead, choose to speak life over your situation.

Tip #2 – Speak Life

Speak words like, “I believe I understand things.” “I’m improving at math”.

Speaking positive things in your life will bring good results. As you speak God’s word over your life and situation, things will change in your life for good.

So today, choose to put this tip into practice. Choose to speak life today.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Proverbs 28:1

Teen and Youth Devotion on Being Bold Proverbs 28:1

The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions. – Proverbs 28:1 (NLT)

School is back in session. There can be times when school simply feels overwhelming. The tests, the drama, and the busyness of it all can make you want to miss the bus some days. This week, we’re looking at some tips to help you become a success at school.

Tip #1 – Be Bold

It can be really easy to let the drama and the opinions of others influence you. Your history teacher might be speaking against Christianity and it seems like all the other students in your class agree with them. It might feel scary to voice your opinion.

There might be a student being bullied during band and it might really bother you. And you’re stuck trying to decide if you should stick up for them and say something in their defense.

In today’s Bible verse, it tells us that the godly are bold as lions. As a Christian, that means that you are bold. Even if you don’t feel like it.

God’s word is the truth. If God says you are bold then you are.

So today, if you’ve sat back and not stood up for your faith or others, challenge yourself to be bold. Don’t let the fear of others stop you from doing the right thing. Be bold!

As you step out and be bold, you’ll feel proud of yourself. You’ll probably also be surprised that there are other students who feel the same way as you. They were probably too scared to stand up for what was right. As you are bold others will follow your lead.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 1 Timothy 4:12

Teen Devotion and BIble Verse on Leading

“Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for the believers in your speech, your conduct, your love, faith, and purity.” – (1 Timothy 4:12 GNT)

I remember the summer after youth camp that I found this Bible verse. It was life-changing for me. I began to see that as a young person, God wanted to use me. I got the revelation that I didn’t have to wait until I was an adult, I could start making a difference in the world right now.

Perhaps you feel like you are too young or don’t know enough to make a difference for God. However, that is not the case. What you know is enough. You are not too young to be used in a big way by God.

Challenge yourself to be a leader this new year. Decide that you’re not going to just sit back and let life happen to you, but that you’re going to stand up and make a difference in the lives of those around you. Choose to be an example of God’s love to the people around you.

Two Often Overlooked Secrets to Success at School

Youth and Teen Devotion - Two Often Overlooked Secrets to Success at School

Have you ever envied those people at school that just always seem to get good grades? It’s easy to watch them and think about how unfair it is that they are always getting good grades. There are moments when you feel like no matter how hard you try, you can’t seem to do as well as they do. It can be easy to feel like their success is because they’re just naturally smart. And while it’s true that some people have a knack for book learning, there are ways to do better in school even if reading and writing isn’t your thing.

Let’s take a look at a couple of ways you can boost your grades and earn some brownie points with your teachers. The great thing about these is that they don’t require any extra IQ points at all!

  1. Show up.
Yep, success at school is as simple as that. Show up to class. Everyday. Whether you feel like it or not.
Simply showing up each day goes a long way towards success at school. And don’t only show up in person, but be there mentally as well. It’s easy to get sucked into passing notes around the classroom, or Snapchatting your friends, but if you want to do well in school you’ve got to pay attention. It’s amazing how many times a teacher will give you tips for a test that you miss if you’re not there or if you’re not paying attention. There’s power to just mentally participating in your class.
Its amazing how much better you can do on tests, quizzes and assignments by simply mentally participating in class. It may be hard for you to focus on what makes up DNA or the quadratic equation. You might not find those topics that interesting, but force yourself to listen anyway. The more you listen and participate mentally, the better you’ll do in class. Its just that simple.
Show up physically and show up mentally. If you’re there and focused you can guarantee you’ll start getting better grades!
  2. Communicate.
This is huge. Communicate with your teachers. Let them know if you have a doctor’s appointment and will be missing class a few days ahead of time. Then get your missed classwork done quickly and turned in.
It’s amazing how willing teachers will be to work with you, if you just communicate with them. Let them know if you’re not keeping up and ask them for tips, pointers and help. Ask if you can do extra work if you need to bring a grade up. Just keep the lines of communication open, and it can really help you out. When communicating, don’t wait until right before finals to get the help you need. Once you realize that you’re struggling, get the courage to go talk to your teacher. Ask them for any tips or help. Most teachers are eager to help you succeed.

These two things will help you out a lot at school. If you show up to class each day and show your teachers that you’re trying your best they will be much more likely to help you out if you get behind or need extra help. If you haven’t been to class everyday or doing the work, you don’t really have much ground to stand on when asking your teacher for help. The best way to do well in school is to show up everyday and communicate!

Finally, don’t forget to ask for God’s help. He can give you wisdom if you need help in dealing with a difficult teacher or school situation. He’s got the answer for any situation you’re facing. Don’t be afraid to ask Him what you should do.
