Daily Bible Verse and Devotion on Fear

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. – 2 Timothy 1:7

How many times have you been afraid to do something? Maybe you wanted to tell your friend about Jesus but you chickened out. Or maybe you wanted to step out and go to the college you felt God told you to go to, but are afraid because its far away from home.

Fear comes to us in many different ways, but its important when you’re faced with a scary situation to remember what today’s Bible verse says. It lets us know that fear isn’t from God. God hasn’t given us fear, so we don’t need to be afraid.

[Tweet “God hasn’t given us fear, so we have no reason to be afraid. – @studentdevos”]

Instead of fear God gave us power, love and self-discipline. So the next time you’re feeling afraid, remember what this verse says. Choose to not be afraid but to trust in God.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Colossians 1:16

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion - Col 1:16 Teens Dreams Destiny PurposeThrough him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see–such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him – Colossians 1:16

As a student, it’s easy begin to wonder what your calling is in life. You can begin to wonder what is next for you or how will God bring to pass the dreams that are in your heart.

These are all great questions and things to consider. However, it’s always good to check our motives when we’re praying and asking God our destiny. Many times we fall into the trap of asking God to bless our dreams and what we want to do, instead of asking God to show us what He would have us to do.

God created us. He knows us and loves us, He knows what will make us fulfilled and happy. In light of this, we should focus on building a thriving relationship with Jesus. As we spend time with Jesus we should ask Him what He wants us to do and what He created us for. Doing this will bring you lasting and true happiness.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – October 2

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion for Youth, Students, Teenagers on Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. – Romans 5:1 (NLT)

How many times do we feel that we need the approval of others to make us happy? We might think if we could just get the cute girl in math class to like us, or hang out with the right people at school we’d be happy.

The truth in this scripture is that we don’t need others to make us happy. We’ve been accepted by God. We have peace with God. Our acceptance and happiness is based on what God says about us, not what others say.

[Tweet “Our happiness is not based on what others say about us. It’s based on what God says about us. – @studentdevos”]

Knowing this can change your life. When you begin to realize God’s great love for you, it changes everything. God loves you unconditionally. He loves you regardless of who likes you or doesn’t like you. You can be happy knowing that you’ve been made right with God!

What Does The Bible Say About Anxiety?

Teen Devotion on AnxietyCan you think of times in your life when your parents would ask you what you learned at school or church. Most likely they were being really nice, but for some reason, you wanted to go to your room to be alone, or listen to music. You just wanted to be away from your parents and their questions. Because you wanted to get away, when your mom asked you, “What did you learn at school today?” You might have said, “Nothing”, and ran to your room. Or perhaps your dad asked, what did you do with your friends last night, and you said, “Nothing”.

This devotion is a tribute to those moments when you told your parents you learned nothing at school or did nothing with your friends. So when your mom asks you what you learned in this devotion, you can honestly say, “Nothing”.

To learn about nothing in this devotion, let’s check out a scripture about nothing that’s found in Philippians 4:6.

Be anxious for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. – Phil 4:6 (Jubilee)

Being Anxious Is Easy

The first part of this verse is easy. It tells us to be anxious. And for me, being anxious is really easy. I don’t have to try to be anxious, I can do it naturally. Being anxious is almost like second nature to me. You might have more homework than you have time to do, or you can see all the bad things going on in the world and it can become so easy to be anxious. You might even feel like you have a really good reason to be anxious.

Even if we feel like we’re justified in being anxious, this Bible verse tells us to be anxious for nothing. How is that even possible? With all the stress in our lives, with all the craziness going on in the world, how can we live our lives not being anxious?

Can We Really Live Our Lives Without Anxiety?

The end of this Bible verse gives us a clue how we can do this. It tells us in everything with prayer and thanksgiving, let our requests be known to God. So when we’re faced with anxiety, we’re to pray and to be thankful.

I know in my life, a lot of my anxiety comes from not being thankful. I can be stressed out that I have all state choir and band competitions next weekend, or I can be thankful that I have a God given musical ability. I can be anxious that I might not get my paper written in time or I can be thankful that I have the opportunity to go to school and get an education. When we are thankful, it makes all the difference. It’s hard to be anxious when you’re always being thankful.

Your Approach To Anxiety Matters

I remember a time when I was trying to learn how to skip rocks on water. As hard as I tried, I wasn’t able to make the rock skip. My best friend however, was a master at skipping rocks. He was able to make rocks skip four or five times across the surface of the water. I was so jealous at my friend’s ability to skip rocks, that one day I asked him how he did it.

He showed me a way to hold the rock that allowed me to get my rocks to skip across the water several times. My friend had what I needed, which was to change my approach to skipping rocks. Once my approach changed, I was able to skip rocks successfully.

How many times are we anxious because we need to approach things differently?

Living a life free from anxiety isn’t impossible, however, we may need to change our approach to do it successfully.

How Do We Change Our Approach To Anxiety?

So how do we do it? How do we change our approach to anxiety? I think it starts with really believing that God cares about you. It’s easy to think in the midst of a difficult situation that God forgot about you or that God doesn’t care. In reality nothing could be further from the truth.

God cares about you and wants to walk with you through any situation and circumstance you face. So don’t believe the lie that God doesn’t care about you. He cares about you so much. He wants you to be able to be anxious for nothing because you know that God will take care of you.

[Tweet “We don’t have to be anxious. We know God will take care of us – @studentdevos”]

We Can Be Anxious For Nothing

We don’t have to life our lives full of anxiety. Instead we can do what Phil 4:6 says be anxious, for nothing. We can choose to pray and be thankful in the midst of bad situations and circumstances. As we do that, we’ll experience God’s peace and love.

So dare to believe that God cares about you. Dare to live your life free from anxiety because you know that there’s nothing that God wouldn’t do for you!

Daily Devotion and Bible Verse – 1 Peter 5:7

Daily Bible Verse and Daily Devotion on Casting Your Cares and Worries

Today’s Bible Verse on Worry

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. – 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

Its so easy to get stressed out. You can do it without even trying. With all the pressures from school, sports, jobs, parents, and friends its easy to feel lots of pressure to get things done and at times, just plain stressed out.

Today’s Bible verse doesn’t tell us that we won’t experience worry and stress in life, but it does tell us what to do about it. We are challenged to give our worry to God. The great thing about giving something away is that we no longer have it. And that is what we are to do with worry. We are to give it to God and no longer carry it in our life.

When you give your worries and cares to God it frees you up to enjoy life. You can sit back and relax knowing that God is always going to take care of you!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalms 103:2

Daily Bible Verse Daily Devotion - Praising God

Today’s Bible Verse and Devotion is Psalm 103:2

Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. – Psalm 103:2 (NLT)

When hard times come, its sometimes really easy to want to give up. You might blame God or just give up.

In the midst of hard times, its important that we remember what this verse says. It tells us to praise the Lord and to not forget the good things God does for us.

Its easy when things aren’t going the way you want to give up, blame God and start throwing ourselves a pity party. If we do this, however, we’re missing out on something really important. God tells us to not forget the good things He’s done. When we remember God, when we remember the things He has done for us in the past, we begin to realize that God will help us out this time too.

So instead of getting discouraged when tough times come, choose to look to God and remember the times God has brought you out of bad situations. And realize, He will do that again for you!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – September 12

Daily Bible verse and devotionThen he said to me, “This is what the LORD says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. -Zechariah 4:6

If you want to live a truly God empowered life, you’ve got to stop living in your own strength. Living a God empowered life is all about letting God’s Spirit give you the victory you need. When you choose to lean on God for His help, you experience peace and rest.

Life is always going to bring difficult situations and experiences. In those times, it’s important to learn to lean on and trust God for help. Trusting God is really hard sometimes. It’s difficult to let go and really trust God. Learning to trust God, however always brings good results in your life.

So today as you’re facing difficult situations and decisions remember that you can rely on God’s help to be a success. God will help and empower you for anything you face.
