Each day that you don’t put God’s word in you, you’re trying to live life on your own. That isn’t the way you were created to live. God created you to live in fellowship with Him.

As you already know, life can be difficult. School isn’t easy. There are subjects that don’t make sense to you. At school there are people who aren’t kind and that you don’t agree with. And you have to deal with them each day. So how do you do it?

How do you live your life for Jesus when you’re tired, frustrated, and sometimes don’t understand? You do it by getting closer to Him. Each day, you should be striving to get in His presence. Maybe it’s listening to some worship music and thanking Him for what He’s done. It could be praying or spending time in the Bible. But it’s all about it dwelling richly in you.

It’s foolish for you to think you can live your life in your own strength with all the problems going on. Instead, you should be going to Jesus. In His presence is where you’ll find the answers you need. In Him, you can get the wisdom you need to live your life each day.

Don’t forget to go to Him. Don’t get too busy and too consumed with the problems of life that you try to live life on your own. Instead spend time each day being refreshed in Him.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 1 Peter 2:11

When we talk about living a life of character that pleases Jesus, we can have all kinds of ideas what that might look like. But here’s the crazy thing, it’s so easy to see the wrong things other Christians do, and judge them.

We can look at others and think I can’t believe they’re doing that, or going there, or saying that. But do we examine our own lives? Do we see the areas that we could improve as well? Our job isn’t to judge others, it’s to judge ourselves.

Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. – 1 Peter 2:11 (NIV)

Today’s verse reminds us to abstain from sinful desires. For you that might be lust, for another person, it could be lying. But remember that living a life of character for Jesus is important. Just like Joseph had to do the right thing even when he was accused of doing wrong, we too have to do the right thing no matter what others say or do around us.

The right thing is following what the Bible says and doing it out of a heart of love for Jesus. And even though it sounds crazy, the more you abstain from sinful things, the easier it will become to say no to them.

So today, instead of finding fault with others, look at your own life. Ask Jesus to show you areas where you can grow in character. Focus on yourself and becoming more like Christ.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Hebrews 1:2

but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. – Hebrews 1:2 (NIV)

Jesus was there at the beginning. Isn’t that an amazing thought? He was the one who helped make the universe. And instead of being too busy or important, He came to earth for us.

He laid down all the greatness He had. He humbled Himself and came to be the one to redeem us back from the curse of sin.

That’s the good news of the gospel. But it’s easy to get used to that fact and not really think about how important it is for us. See, God has made it possible for us to know Him. We can fellowship with Him and enjoy His presence through Jesus.

We can walk in freedom from sin because of Jesus. We are valued and loved all because of Jesus. So when you have a bad day, or when you think you can’t go on, just remember this truth. God made you, He loves you, and He sent His son for you.

Decide today to remind yourself of how good Jesus is. From creation until now, He’s been looking out for you. He loves you and has good things in store for you.

Daily Devotion and Bible Verse – Col 3:1

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
– Col 3:1 (NIV)

If you’re a born again Christian, you are now completely different on the inside. In your spirit, you’ve died with Jesus and have been raised up to heavenly places just like Jesus. Your whole life is now different. However, the only way to get this new life on the inside of you to really change your world is to think like Jesus. The way to think like Jesus, is to keep your mind focused on what the Bible says about you. This is what it means when this verse says, “set your hearts on things above…”.

How do you do this? You can go through the New Testament for starters, and look at all the instances where you see, “in Him”, “in Christ” or “by Whom”. Then you take those scriptures and believe that this is a reality in your new spirit inside you.

The more you renew your mind to what the Bible says about you and then believe it, think on it and act like it, the more it will affect your life here on earth.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Deuteronomy 8:18

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. – Deuteronomy 8:18

Do you ever wish you could win a ton of money on a TV show, or you had a rich relative that left you tons of money when they died? Even better, wouldn’t it be great if God would just put lots of money into your checking account? Or put a ton of money in your Bible so when you open it up to read, you just pull out bill after bill? If God blessed us this way, it sure would be a lot more exciting and easier. However, today’s Bible verse tells us that God blesses us in a different way.

It tells us that God gives each of us the ability to get wealth. He puts in each of us a way that we can make money. You might be able to make money through your job, or perhaps you could start a business selling candy bars in your lunch room, or even make money on an investment or savings account.

God wants you blessed financially so that you can be a blessing to others. If you have a financial need in your life, begin to ask God to show you ways that you can produce wealth. God will show you a way that you can use things you’re good at to make money. Then be open and willing to act on what God is showing you.

Have you ever thought about your relationship with God? Maybe you thought about what you’d like it to be. Perhaps you wished that it was awesome like one you saw a pastor have and you’ve wondered if something like that was possible for you too.

Let’s take a look at today’s Bible verse:

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. – Psalm 16:11 (NIV)

God’s presence is something that is for you, just like it was for King David. David describes joy in God’s presence. Wow! What an awesome place to be in where you find joy simply by being with God and being in His presence.

You might not experience that each time you open your Bible, and that’s ok. Just know that it’s possible. Having an exciting real relationship with God is possible for you. But it might take a bit of effort on your part. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not difficult to have a relationship with God, but it is difficult sometimes to keep yourself focused on Him.

With all the distractions and things screaming for our attention, finding joy in God’s presence can feel like it might be impossible. Here’s the thing. Determine to make room in your life for God. It might be two minutes a day before you fall asleep at night. Talk to God, thank Him for your day. Then when you wake up in the middle of the night and run to grab a drink, spend a second asking God to show you something you don’t understand. Each time you make room in your life for God, it makes joy in His presence easier.

Getting to know a new friend takes time and effort, and your relationship with God is no different. The more you practice talking to Him, reading the Word and praying, the easier it will become and the more you’ll find joy in His presence.

Today’s Truth: Finding joy in God’s presence isn’t difficult, but it takes effort.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – John 4:24

For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:24

Have you ever had times when you didn’t feel close to God? I know I have. I’ve had days when my stomach has been twisted up in knots wondering about what to do, or whether I was making the right decision. I’ve struggled with wondering where God was when loved ones have died and at times when it felt like things weren’t going well in my family.

There are going to be times in your life when you don’t feel close to God. It might because of difficulty, being busy or any other number of reasons. When your emotions are all over the place, there’s one thing to keep in mind. We don’t contact God with our emotions and feelings. We talk to God through our spirit.

So when our emotions are all over the place, if we can get quiet, we can usually get peace in our spirit. Often we’re too busy and distracted to quiet our emotions and hear from God. If we can get quiet, we can usually find the peace and direction we were looking for.

So if today you don’t feel close to God, be encouraged. God hasn’t moved. He loves you and He desires to talk to you. Your situation isn’t hopeless. Just realize that your relationship with God isn’t based on your performance or how you feel today. It’s based on what Jesus did for you on the cross. That means that you can come to God any time any place and He is ready to hear from you. It doesn’t matter if it’s been two years since you last spoke to Him. He loves you and is ready to speak to you. Don’t let your emotions get in the way. Choose instead to believe God’s word and walk in your relationship with God.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalm 43:4

I want you to think back to when you met some of your closest friends. Did you enjoy being around them? You probably laughed a lot with them, or just had so much fun with them that it made you want to be with them more and more.

Our relationship with God should be like that. We should enjoy time in God’s Prescence. Check out how King David described his time with God in today’s Bible verse.

There I will go to the altar of God, to God—the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God! – Psalm 43:4 (NLT)

David called God the source of all his joy. Wow! What a relationship David must have had with God.

God is calling you to the same kind of relationship with Him as David had. Believe it or not, you can enjoy time with God. And if you don’t, if it seems like a struggle or something you forget to do each day, take some time and get real and honest with God.

Let God know that you’re struggling, but that you’d like to spend time with Him. Then get quiet and let God speak to you. You might have an idea of how to make time with God more enjoyable just pop into your head. That’s God’s leading. He will help you so that you can learn to enjoy time with Him, just as David did.

Today’s Truth: You can learn to enjoy time with God.

Have you ever been sitting in school, learning a new subject and feel really overwhelmed? Maybe you felt like you weren’t learning things as fast as the students around you. That can be really discouraging. It’s scary to not understand a subject or feel like you’re falling behind in class.

Learning new things can be difficult, but the Bible does give us some encouragement about this. Today’s Bible verse tells us that we’ve been given a spirit of wisdom and understanding. And while this verse is often used in making big decisions like which career to choose or who to date, it can also be helpful when you struggle at school.

God loves you, and He wants to help you to understand things. He can show you ways to understand difficult subjects. He can help you when you struggle. So instead of giving up and feeling overwhelmed, today choose to go to God and ask Him for wisdom in your studies.

Today’s Truth: God wants to help you become successful at school

He may show you a new way to study, or help you find a YouTube video that explains a complicated math concept. Whatever it is, God wants to help guide you with your schoolwork. So today, if you’re struggling, go to Him for help. He wants to show you ways to succeed at school!

Daily Devotion and Bible Verse – Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. – Matt 5:16 (NLT)

Sometimes people just want to see you walk this Christian life out. They want to see if Jesus really changes your everyday life or if your faith in Jesus is just all talk. Nothing speaks as loudly about your faith as what you do. The things you do everyday shine your message to the world.

Let God help you to show good deeds to those around you. As He does, people will take notice. You’re not doing it to be noticed, but as you do good deeds for Jesus it does make an impact on others around you.

This Bible verse says that they will then praise your heavenly Father. When they see your good works and ask you about the difference in your life, tell them it’s because of Jesus in your life. This will help them to know who to glorify when they see the good things in your life.
