As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. – Luke 10:38 (NIV)
As a teenager, the responsibilities of your life can often keep you really busy. The sports, school work, maybe a job, your friends and family can often take up a lot of your time. It can be really hard to make intentional space for time with Jesus.
In today’s verse, we see that Martha made intentional time for Jesus. Martha probably had lots of other responsibilities. She had things she could have been doing. Yet, she decided to invite Jesus into her home and into her life. She chose to inconvenience herself a little to serve Jesus.
The easiest thing for Martha would have been just to go hear Jesus speak somewhere. But she went farther. She invited Him in. She served Him and provided for Him.
How about you? Have you invited Jesus into your house? Maybe not into your physical house, but have you invited Him into your life? Your conversations, your friendships, or the other things you do each day? Sometimes it might take a little work, but challenge yourself to make room for Jesus even in your busy life. Invite Him into the things you do each day and make space to listen to Him.
Pray: God help me to be intentional about inviting you into my life today. I ask you to be a part of my conversations, friendships and the things I do today. Amen.
