Jonah 2:9 says, “But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the LORD.’”
Jonah’s experience inside the fish changed him. He moved from running and hiding to recognizing that everything he needed — rescue, meaning, direction — comes from God. That shift wasn’t just emotional; it led to a promise: he would follow through on what he vowed. For you, that looks like more than saying the right words. It means living for God in every area of your life. It could mean choosing honesty over cover-up, courage over fear, and obedience over convenience.
Jonah’s declaration, “Salvation comes from the Lord,” frees you from the lie that you must fix everything yourself. When God rescues you from shame, worry, or bad choices, determine to respond to Him with praise.
Today’s Truth: When God rescues you, respond with thankful praise.
Prayer: God, thank You for helping me when I’m overwhelmed and for being the source of my hope. Help me stay at peace and praise and trust you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
