Have you noticed how difficult it is to know what is true? I remember one time I heard one account of something that happened to a friend, and then I heard another friend tell their account of what happened, and they almost seemed to conflict each other. I began to wonder, who can I trust? Which friend is telling me the truth?
It can be hard at times to know what truth is. Especially in the world we live in today. Let’s take a look at what the Bible has to say about truth.
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. – John 8:32 (NLT)
Here Jesus is speaking, and He tells us that we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. So according to Jesus, we can know truth. And we learn what truth is first of all through the Bible. The more we read the Bible, the more we see what the world is about. We see what we should be about, and we see the plan of God in action throughout history.
That helps us know what truth is. We also can know truth with the help of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is called the spirit of truth. (John 14:17) With the Holy Spirit on the inside of us, we can know truth. You can begin to learn to trust and rely on the Holy Spirit. Begin to ask for His help in situations. If you need to know who is telling the truth in your friends group, ask the Holy Spirit to help reveal it to you. If you need Holy Spirit help with another area, ask Him.
He wants to help you, lead you and guide you.
Today, remember that you can know truth. Yes, it can be tough at times, but God has given you His word and His Holy Spirit to help lead and guide you. Trust the leading of the two, and walk in freedom knowing that you can know truth!
