Have you ever thought about the idea that there is no other reliable source of salvation outside of God? Maybe you mentally agree to that idea. But what does it actually mean?
This verse speaks to the idea that nothing else in the world can compare to God. You could think your ability, strength, or hard work can really get you ahead in life, so maybe you trust in those things. But those things can become an idol if not put in the proper place. Of course the Bible encourages hard work, but if that’s what you trust in instead of God, it’s not in the proper place in your life. There is no other God. That means it is God alone in whom we should place our trust, not our own righteousness.
We can often be trapped into the thinking that having more things, doing better, and having fun are the end goals in life. But the truth is, those things often leave us empty and longing for something deeper. Life wasn’t made only for us to have fun. Life was created for us to know God.
God alone is whom we should build our lives upon. It’s not living with good character that matters, or living being kind to others. Yes, those are godly character traits, but if we make those things be our source of fulfillment and salvation, we’ve missed the mark. It is God alone who is our source of salvation. We couldn’t be enough, do enough, and we can’t trust our own works to bring us salvation.
Salvation is found in Christ alone. And it is upon Him that we build our trust and our lives. There is no other God besides Him.
Today’s Truth: God is the only one we should build our lives upon.
When we build our lives upon the rock of God it helps us live without fear. He is faithful and unchanging, even when we are not. It’s His faithfulness that helps us not fear in life, but rather trust in Him and His goodness to see us through.
