Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Exodus 5:22-23

Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me? 23 Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.” – Exodus 5:22-23 (NIV)

When we’re dealing with difficult situations, it can often feel like it’s getting worse. That’s what Moses and the people of Israel faced in Exodus 5:22-23. Moses had asked Pharoah to let the people of Israel go because that’s what God had told him to do. When Moses asked, things got worse for him and the people of Israel.

I’m sure maybe in that time period Moses felt like he didn’t understand why God had asked him to do something if it made life harder for the people of Israel. And that’s a natural feeling in that situation. But here’s the good news, the truth was that God was working even when it felt like it was taking too long and things were getting worse.

In your life and your situation, it can sometimes feel like things are getting worse. But that isn’t always the truth. Yes, things might be bad, but God is good and He is working on your situation. You’ve just got to stay patient and keep trusting Him.

So today, be encouraged. Things might be looking worse, but the truth is that God is good and that He has a way to help you out.

Prayer: God, I thank you that you are working on my situation. I thank you that you’re encouraging me to stand firm, be patient, and trust you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
