I can remember so many times that I gave into peer pressure. My identity was tied to what other people thought about me. I recall many times making decisions, and not standing up for what was right simply because I didn’t want someone to not like me.
Now I realize that making decisions that way isn’t God’s best for my life. God’s best is that I live only for Him. That I live to know Him and for a relationship with Him.
When we live to please others and give in to peer pressure, we’re not allowing God to be first in our lives. That is really pride. God wants us to humble ourselves before Him and live fully for Him. Living for anything or any person other than God isn’t God’s best.
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. – 1 Peter 5:6 (NLT)
God wants your heart. He wants to guide you, walk with you, and help you in each and every decision and endeavor you take on. So I encourage you to look to Him.
Don’t get caught up with friends and what others think of you. Friendships are fleeting, but a relationship with God is eternal. God loves you and wants to pursue and relationship with you.
