Daily Devotion and Bible Verse – Ephesians 1:4

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. – Ephesians 1:4 (NLT)

This Bible verse clearly shows us how much God loves us. God didn’t just love us, but He chose us too. If you’ve ever been chosen last for a sports team or for a school project you know how good it feels when someone chooses you.

God didn’t just choose you because He felt bad for you. This verse says that He chose you before He made the world. That means He chose you first! He thinks you are important.

The other great thing about what this verse tells us is that we are without fault in His eyes. When God looks at us he doesn’t see our failures and faults, He sees us in Christ and Holy. So when you begin to feel down about yourself, remember that God chose you first and He sees you without fault.

Daily Devotion and Bible Verse – 1 Corinthians 6:20

…for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. – 1 Corinthians 6:20 (NLT)

Today’s Bible verse is really encouraging. First, it shows us our value to God. It says God bought us for a high price. If you’ve ever been out shopping, you know that you don’t pay a high price for something that is junk. If you’re going to pay a lot of money for something it is because its something you really want or something that is very valuable. The reason that God paid a high price for you is that you are someone that God really wanted to know and are very valuable to Him.

Today’s Truth: When you begin to believe the value God places on you, it will change how you live

When you begin to realize and believe in the value that God places on you, it then will change how you live. That’s what the second part of this Bible verse talks about. Because God loves you so much and thinks you’re so valuable, then you are encouraged to live up to that value that He places on you. You are to honor God with your body.

Challenge yourself to do what this verse talks about today. Live your life in a way that honors God. God loved you enough to pay a high value for you, so respond to that love and honor Him with your body.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Romans 8:15

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” – Romans 8:15 (NLT)

Do you ever have those awkward moments when you feel like you don’t belong? For me, it was the year I had two friends that moved away from my town over the summer. When the school year started up again, I felt left out. It seemed like all the other students had groups and friends, and I was walking the halls of school alone because all my friends had moved away.

I hated that feeling like I didn’t belong. It made me feel like I wasn’t important. I just wanted someone to care and want to be my friend. It was a rough school year. However, verses like this one really helped me.

Read: Why Your Life Matters

I realized that God adopted me into His family. I spent time getting closer to God and thinking about how much He loved me. I realized that even if the other students at school weren’t going to care that I didn’t have a group of friends that God did. He cared about every part of my life. Drawing close to God in that difficult time really helped me. I realized that what truly mattered was the fact that God wanted me and wanted a relationship with me.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion on Psam 149:9 for youth students and teens

For the LORD delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. – Psalm 149:4

Have you ever taken a moment to think about the fact that God delights in you? He doesn’t just put up with you to be nice. He really delights in you. He loves you. He wants nothing more than to have a relationship with you.

[Tweet “God delights in you, loves you, and wants to have a relationship with you! – @studentdevos”]

God created us to be in relationship with Him. He created us to spend time getting to know Him and to worship Him. God loves us so much that He went out of His way to bring us back to Him through what Jesus did.

This should change how you live your life. The realization that God created you and delights in you should make you happy. You should no longer look down on yourself or feel like you don’t measure up to other people’s standards. Rather, you should see yourself how God sees you. You are important and have worth because God delights in you.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion on Your Worth To God

Look at my hands. Look at my feet. You can see that it’s really me. Touch me and make sure that I am not a ghost, because ghosts don’t have bodies, as you see that I do.” – Luke 24:39 (NLT)

Have you ever thought about the fact that the hands and feet of Jesus prove your worth? No other religion can say this. They can’t say the God they serve loved them enough to die for them. No other religion can say that their God did everything He could to get to know them.

That’s what makes knowing Jesus different. Jesus didn’t have His hands and feet pierced for kicks. Rather, He did it because you were worth it to Him.

So when you begin to question your worth, when you have days when you feel like no one even cares be encouraged. The one true God thinks you’re incredibly valuable. He died, went to hell, and rose again all so that He could know you and so that you could experience eternal life!

What a Thrown Away Apple Computer Can Teach Us About Value

Devotion on self-esteem from apple 1 computer

Image Credit: Ed Uthman Wikimedia Commons

If you’ve been watching the news recently, you’ve seen some talk about an Apple computer that someone threw away. The crazy thing about the computer was that it was worth about $200,000. The computer the person threw away was one of the first Apple computers made and only about 50 of original computers exist still today.

The lady who threw the computer away didn’t realize the value of the computer. She thought it looked like junk and she discarded it. She had no idea she was getting rid of a $200,000 computer. View Article.

Lots of times this is a lot like how we view ourselves. We often get down on ourselves because of something dumb we said or did. We might not feel that we look the right way or have the right friends. This leads us to want to treat ourselves like junk, instead of realizing the true value we have.

See our value isn’t in what we do, what we wear or who we hang out with. Our true value comes when we realize what we’re worth. We find that worth in what the Bible says about us.

It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. – 2 Cor 3:5 (NLT)

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Eph 2:10

The Bible has lots of great things to say about your value. You’re important and created to do good things. So when the feelings come that say you’re not worth much or that you’re junk, remember that to God you have great value.
