Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Philippians 4:7

Teen Devotion on Peace

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Phil 4:7 (ESV)

Life is full of unexpected things. Perhaps you didn’t see your parent’s divorce coming or maybe a loved one died. And often in the midst of troubles like these, it’s easy to lose your peace.

It’s easy in trouble to lose your peace and focus on the trouble instead of Jesus.

Jesus will get you through the storm that you’re facing. If you’ll choose to focus on Him and let Him lead and guide you, you’ll come through the storm stronger and your faith will be strengthened.

So today, realize that you can have peace in a storm. You might be facing something unexpected, but Jesus is right there with you. He’s ready and able to help you each step of the way.

Go to Him and get the help and strength you need to face each day. Walk in His peace and see Him help you through the storm!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 1 Corinthians 2:12

And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. – 1 Corinthians 2:12 (NLT)

God has provided us with so many blessings. It’s easy to forget how good he’s been to us as we’re living our lives, and often get caught up in all the busyness of each day. One of the great blessings we’ve been given is the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit teaches us and shows us things from God’s word. Have you ever woken up at night, and been thinking about a scripture? Then maybe you see something different about that scripture then you’ve ever seen before? If so, that’s the Holy Spirit. He’s leading you as you study scripture and showing you wonderful things about what God has given us.

However, if you haven’t, don’t worry. The Holy Spirit is there for us all to learn from. Begin to expect to be led as you read your Bible. When you read scripture, get quiet and listen. That thought, or prompting as you read is often Him leading you.

Today’s Truth: Ask the Holy Spirit to Lead You as You Read the Bible.

Get into God’s word and then ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Ask Him to show you and teach you things from the Bible, and begin to realize how much fun it can be to read and learn from God’s word!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalm 96:3

Tell people about his glory. Tell all the nations about his miracles. – Psalms 96:3 (GW)

Lots of people think sharing their faith has to be difficult. Often, they don’t share their faith because they think they don’t know enough or that it’s too hard. Many times, however, you can share your faith in simple and easy ways.

For example, I was out on a walk and I met a young man on a bike at an intersection. Even though he had the right of way, he pulled over and let me go first. I smiled and thanked him, and then he did something really great. He said, “God Bless You”. He said three simple words, but you know what those words did? They immediately got me thinking about God. I started thinking about how great God was.

Granted, I was already a Christian and already excited about God, but what this young man did was extraordinary. He went out of his way to be nice and to let me go first. When he was done, he didn’t try to preach to me or tell me all about his beliefs. He simply said, “God Bless You”. What a great way to share your faith. It’s so simple, and yet so powerful.

What would our world look like if we all did simple things like this young man? What if we took some time out of our busy schedules and let someone else go first in line? And that opened the door to tell them about Jesus. What if we helped an older lady carry groceries to her car? What if we bought coffee for the person behind us in line?

What would it look like if we started doing good in the name of Jesus? It’s simple to tell others about how good God is. You can start by being kind and spreading God’s love to those you meet every day.

Today’s Truth: It’s easy to tell others how good God is.

IT's easy to tell others how good god is

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Ephesians 1:6

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. – Ephesians 1:6

Have you ever struggled with not feeling like you’re accepted? Maybe you feel like you don’t always fit in at school, or you don’t like how you look.

If you look for them, there are probably tons of reasons why you might feel like you’re not accepted.

Today’s Bible verse helps us. It tells us that God accepted us. And it shows us that God indeed loves us enough to accept us into his family and call us His children.

Our job is simple: Accept Jesus as our savior.

So when those thoughts come that tell you there’s something wrong with you. Your response should be to tell them no. Those thoughts are not the truth. The truth is, you’re accepted by God. Instead, choose to think about that and be happy because you’re accepted!

If you struggle with feeling accepted, check out this devotion.

Today’s Truth: You’ve been accepted by God

You've been accepted by God

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 1 Timothy 4:10

Teen DevotionThat is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe. – 1 Timothy 4:10 (NIV)

Think for a minute what your hope is in? Is it getting a scholarship to a good college? Is it finding a relationship with someone? What thing in your life is stopping your happiness? What thing do you feel needs to change so that you can really begin enjoying life?

Your answers to questions like those are important. They show you where you’re basing your happiness. Often, we place our happiness in having a relationship or looking forward to something in the future. The problem with putting all our happiness in those things is that things can happen.

Circumstances could change and you might not get the scholarship you were working toward. You might not end up finding that right relationship. What then? If all your happiness is tied up in events or relationships at some point you’re going to be let down.

Instead, consider focusing your happiness on something that doesn’t change, Jesus. Let Jesus be the source of your joy on a daily basis. Choose to be happy each day regardless of the circumstances around you. You can’t always control your circumstances, but you can choose to be happy. So decide to place your hope in Jesus.

Today’s Truth: Put Your Hope in Jesus

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Luke 9:23

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. – Luke 9:23 (NIV)

Hopefully, you’ve been having some fun this summer. From sporting events to spending some time in the sun, or at the pool, summer can be a fun time.

While you’re having fun, make sure you take some time this summer to develop your relationship with Jesus. Summer is a great time to do that. You have some more time while you’re not in your classes, and you can spend some of that extra time getting to know Jesus better.

It can be tempting to just enjoy a little more TV, or social media time, however, spending all our free time on those things can often keep you from spending time reading your Bible or in prayer.

Part of being a disciple of Jesus involves us denying ourselves by not watching that extra movie, and following Jesus by spending time in the Word. This summer, challenge yourself to not only relax and enjoy but to spend some time learning to become a disciple of Jesus and growing in your walk with God.

Today’s Truth: Choose to become a disciple this summer and challenge yourself to spend time in God’s Word.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Romans 3:23

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. – Romans 3:23 (NLT)

We can often get caught up in the busyness of life that we don’t take time to recall all the good things Jesus has done for us. Being thankful and realizing the goodness of God is really important for us, and brings us joy and fulfillment.

Today’s Bible verse reminds us that we all have sinned. We’ve all lied. Each of us has done things that are not right and those sins cause us to fall short of God’s standard.

And as hard as we try to do good and be right, we can’t in our own strength. Continually we mess up and need God’s forgiveness.

That’s why knowing Jesus is so amazing. Because we couldn’t live good enough lives. We couldn’t do enough good to meet God’s standard. We deserved hell but got grace. That’s the goodness of God. It met us where we were when we least deserved it.

So today, take some time out of your busy life to thank God. Realize that you didn’t deserve what God gave you and thank Him today for His goodness in reaching out to you!

Today’s Truth: The goodness of God meets us where we least deserve it.

Goodness of God

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Matthew 20:32

Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. – Matthew 20:32 (GW)

Have you ever taken some time to stop and think about what you’d like to see Jesus do in your life? Lots of times in life, we just take things as they come or get so busy that we forget we can go to Jesus with the things we need. This Bible verse encourages us to ask Jesus for what we want to see in our lives.

So what would you like to see in your life? Do you want Jesus to be more real to you? Do you need wisdom or help in any area of your life? Do you need healing from a hurt? Then do what this verse says and ask Jesus what you want Him to do in your life. When you ask Jesus to get involved with what you’re facing, you’re able to do much more than you could do on your own.

Today’s Truth: Don’t get so busy that you forget to go to Jesus with the things you need

Don't get so busy

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Romans 8:16

God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. – Romans 8:16 (MSG)

This Bible verse talks about one of the most important things you can know in life, who you really are. When you know who you really are, it changes how you feel about yourself, how you treat others, and how you relate to God.

Who you really are is who God says you are. Your value comes from what God says about you. It’s no longer about what you’ve done or what has been done to you. It’s all about your value to God.

Today’s Truth: It’s not about what you’ve done, it’s about your value to God

So, when you feel unloved, when you feel like no one cares, you can take comfort that God always does. He always tells us who we really are. When we get a picture of how God sees us it will change what we think, say, and do. God sees you through the cross and the blood of Jesus. He sees you as someone who has value because He was willing to give everything He had to know you.

Today be encouraged by what this Bible verse tells us. We are children of God.
