Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Exodus 33:17

Help! I feel misunderstood…

I can’t tell you how many times it felt like my parents didn’t understand me at all. Time and time again, they didn’t get what I was trying to say. Sometimes, it felt easier to keep to myself than even try to explain to them how I felt.

Maybe you feel that way. Perhaps it’s not your parents, but maybe you feel misunderstood by someone else in your life. Regardless of who it is, being misunderstood is not a fun feeling.

Practically speaking, if you feel misunderstood, a good thing to try to do is not to give up. Don’t give up communicating with that person who isn’t understanding you. It might be tough to keep communicating when you’d rather scream or give up, but it is good to keep communication open and coming.

Finally, know that even if people misunderstand you, Jesus doesn’t. He gets you like no one else can. God created you, and He knows you intimately. He knows and understands, even if the people in your life don’t. Check out this verse.

And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” – Exodus 33:17 (NIV)

God knew Moses by name. He cared about Moses enough to know Him and what he was up to. God cares about you the same way. He knows your name. He knows each and everything about you, and that means He gets you. God gets you. Isn’t that good news?

God loves you, knows you, and wants the best for you. So don’t believe the lie that you’re misunderstood. God understands and will stand by you each and every day.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Philippians 4:6

Help! I feel anxious…

Anxiety is no fun for anyone. I can recall times when I was anxious about an upcoming test, or getting a group project finished. All the stress and concern would often cause me to not sleep all that well at night.

But anxiousness is not God’s best for my life and for yours too.

God didn’t design us to be anxious. In fact, He loves it when we bring Him the things that worry and upset us. As we do, He’s there to help us carry those concerns.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. – Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

This verse gives us a roadmap when it comes to the things that make us anxious. Instead of letting anxiousness build in your life, take those things that make you anxious before God. Let Him know what you need and ask Him for His help.

You’ll be surprised what will happen if you’ll be open to being led by Him. He wants to help you every step of the way. So determine to not let anxiousness run your life. Instead, choose to go to Him, let Him know you’re upset and anxious and get His help and wisdom to bring a solution to pass in your life.

Today’s Truth: Take the things that make you anxious to God.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalm 34:18

Help! I’m feeling alone…

I remember one school year my best friend moved away. My whole group of friends dissolved because for some reason, my best friend had held the group together. Then, to top it off, our whole class moved into the high school building the next year. As a result of all this, I entered high school with no group of friends.

Day after day, I went into the school building feeling upset and alone. None of the other students seemed to want to make friends with me, they had their own friends. There I was, friendless in a new school.

You may have experienced something like I did. It stinks. Feeling alone is not something any of us like to face.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. – Psalm 34:18

Here’s the good news. God cares about you. He cares that you’re upset and feeling alone. He’s there to help lift you up when you need it.

So today, go to God. Get real with Him. Let Him know that you’re feeling upset and alone. Let Him be the one to help you, strengthen you, lead and guide you. Know that God loves you and is close to you when you go through tough times. He’s there to help you and strengthen you today.

Today’s Truth: You’re Not Alone – God is close to you!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 1 Chronicles 16:34

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. – 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NIV)

Aren’t you glad that you can give thanks to the Lord? God is good to you. You didn’t deserve His love but He gave it to you anyway. God since the beginning of time has been chasing after you and desiring a relationship with you.

Today you can give thanks to God. Your life might not be perfect. Things might not always turn out as you’d hoped, but regardless of what you see around you, what God has done for you is a reason to give thanks.

God is good and his love endures forever. God isn’t going to get tired of you one day. His love is for you and it’s forever. That’s good news.

Today’s Truth: God’s love is for you and it’s forever.

Today, choose to spend some time giving God thanks. Thank Him for His great plan to rescue you from sin. Thank Him for His love that never gave up on you. Tell God how great it is to know Him and to be His child.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalm 7:17

How often do you stop to give thanks to God? If I’m honest, I probably don’t do it as much as I should. It’s like I forget that there are so many things in life that God has provided for me. I should be thankful and grateful for all the things that are going right in my life.

I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High. – Psalm 7:17 (NIV)

Maybe you’ve become guilty of focusing on the things that aren’t right in your life. Perhaps instead of thanking God for the good things, you’ve gotten into the habit of being unthankful. If so, decide to adjust your attitude. Know that there are probably many things that are going well for you. So instead of being upset at what is not working, you can begin to thank God for what is working.

Regardless of how things might seem or look, God is good to you. He’s got your best interests at heart. So choose today to look to Him. Know that He loves you and has your best interests at heart.

Today’s Truth: Be thankful, God has your best interests at heart.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalm 106:1

It’s coming up on the Thanksgiving season. And as hard as we try, sometimes, it’s so tough to be thankful. Sometimes, I don’t like my family. There are times when I don’t like my house, friends, and pretty much everything about my life. And when you feel that way, being thankful is the last thing on your mind, isn’t it?

Being thankful takes a lot of work. It takes really thinking and focusing on the good things in your life so that you stay happy.

Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. – Psalm 106:1 (NLT)

Even if there is nothing going right in your life, you can at least be thankful to God. God is so good to you. He loves us with an everlasting love. So even if your friends, family, and possessions seem at little less than desirable, we can be at peace because we know that God loves us.

He is faithful in that love. He never changes His mind or backs out on His love. So today, you can take comfort knowing that God is good, and that love toward you will never change.

Today’s Truth: God’s Love toward you will never change.

God's love toward you

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Matthew 5:9

Have you had someone who didn’t do what you wanted them to do? How did you handle it? Did you blow up, give them a piece of your mind, and make sure they knew you weren’t happy with them?

For some of us, it can be really easy to lose our cool with others. Especially when they don’t do what you want them to do or make you mad. Let’s see what the Bible says about this.

God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. – Matthew 5:9 (NLT)

As children of God, we should be working for peace with others. That isn’t always possible, but as much as you can, you should try to live at peace with others. That might involve choosing to close your mouth when you want to yell back and give someone a piece of your mind. That isn’t always easy to do, but when we can, we should try to live at peace with others.

We should be living to show God’s love to the world around us. And yes, there are some people who simply try to stir up trouble, but for the most part, we can live our lives at peace with others, making sure that we walk in God’s love and show that love to the hurting world around us.

Today’s Truth: Choose to live at peace with others.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Ecclesiastes 12:1

Have you ever thought, I’ll serve God when I get older? It can be tempting. The idea of doing whatever you want as a young person, and then living for God when you’re older can seem like a good one. However, the Bible advises against this.

Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them” – Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NIV)

The thing is, there’s not really a great time to start living for God. If you push it off until you’re older, then when will be old enough? At what point do you think, now I’m ready? If you’re like most people, you’ll keep pushing it off and pushing it off, and possibly never make that commitment.

Instead, why wait? Why put off making a decision for Christ? Decide that you’ll go all out for God. Let Him direct your paths and give you the peace and contentment that you desire. Don’t put off making the decision to live for God. Decide that today is a good day to live for Him.

Daily Devotional with Bible Verse – John 8:36

So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. – John 8:36 (NLT)

When you commit your life to Jesus and He sets you free, you are truly free. That’s it, plain and simple. Jesus set you free from sin, fear of death, and your old life all by dying on the cross for you and being raised back up to life. That’s the good news of the gospel.

But here’s the thing, sometimes you may doubt if you are truly changed and free. You probably experience thoughts that tell you otherwise. However, when those thoughts come that cause you to doubt if something really happened, cast them down and say, “No, I’m a child of God. Jesus set me free and I’m free indeed.”

In Jesus you can know that your past is gone, your sins are completely removed and you are a new person in your spirit. You are truly free in Jesus.

Today’s Truth: I’m free in Jesus.

Free in Jesus

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Proverbs 26:11

As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness. – Proverbs 26:11 (NLT)

What do you do when you make a mistake? Do you let it stop you? Or do you learn from it and let it make you better?

In today’s Bible verse, we see that the Bible calls making a mistake and not learning from it foolishness. When you make a mistake, you have the opportunity to learn or you can let your mistakes stop you.

It’s up to you to choose how mistakes influence you.

Today’s Challenge: Do you let mistakes make you or break you?

You’re not always going to make the right choice. You might choose a college or career path that isn’t the right fit for you. Or you might make a dumb decision about how to spend your money.

But it’s what you do in those moments when you realize you made a bad choice that makes all the difference. You can choose to let a bad choice define you. You can become bitter, upset and a victim. Or you could choose to let that choice make you better.

So today, challenge yourself to learn from your mistakes. Choose to let your mistakes make you a better person!
