Do you remember the last scary dream you had? I can recall some good ones. I remember one where I was giving a speech in my oral communications class. In the middle of my speech in the dream, I didn’t remember what I was supposed to say. So instead of making up something, I began spilling out all kinds of profanity. Now, I’m not the kind of person that generally uses profanity. And in my dream, I was so embarrassed to be talking like that in front of my class.
Scary dreams can seem really real sometimes. You might even wonder if they really happened.
But regardless of how scary your dream or your reality might seem, it’s really great to be able to look to God and know that He cares for us. Check out today’s verse:
A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. – Psalm 23:1 (NLT)
God is our shepherd. With Him, we lack nothing. All of our needs, all our fears, everything can be taken care of by Him. And as our shepherd, God had a plan for us in Jesus.
He knew that we needed Jesus. He knew we needed saving. And so as the good shepherd, He sent His son for us. To rescue us from the scary things in life. To deliver us from our fears, our shortcomings, our sin. So today, take a moment to thank God for being the good shepherd and for making sure that we lack nothing.
