“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. – John 10:11 (NIV)
Life can be hard. Have you noticed that? Many times, you probably wish things were easier. Maybe you wish that you had success like someone you admire. Perhaps you see another person and it just seems they have such a great life. And while it’s probably true that it looks like someone has it better or easier, if they don’t have Jesus all that success is empty.
Jesus tells us He is the good shepherd. What does that mean for your day to day life? It means that He’s there. He cares. You’re not doing life alone. You have someone who cares about you, who looks out for you, even if it feels that no one else does.
It means that you’re important. Regardless of how you feel, or how others treat you, to Jesus, you are important.
Finally, it means that He wants to take care of you. He wants to lead you into good things. So take some time today to think about how good Jesus is. Think about how He wants to lead and guide you into good things. Your job is to trust Him.
Trusting Jesus can be really hard sometimes, however. But challenge yourself to push past your feelings, and begin to trust Jesus. Lean into Him and let His goodness become real to you. Spend time reading verses and listening to songs that remind you of how good He is, and the good things He has in store for you.
Life with Jesus is a good life. Let Him lead and care for you!
