Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – 1 Samuel 17:45

See God As Bigger Than Your Limitations

David told the Philistine, “You come to me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Armies, the God of the army of Israel, whom you have insulted. – 1 Samuel 17:45 (GW)

A lot of the time when we face a situation that seems huge, we look around and see all the reasons why we can’t. Maybe we think that we’re not smart enough, not equipped enough, or don’t have enough money. We see our limitation. And we magnify our weaknesses and shortcomings.

In the Bible, the army of God was faced with a situation that seemed much bigger than them. They felt too small and unequipped to handle the giant Goliath and his fighting skills. The neat thing about this story is how David viewed the situation. Where everyone in the army of God saw lack and limitation, David saw an opportunity for God’s strength.

Today’s Truth: God Is Bigger Than Your Limitations

In the story of David and Goliath, David chooses to side with God. He trusts that God is going to fight for Him. David’s choice to see possibility instead of limitation, caused God to come through for Him in a major way and win the battle.

Today, you might be facing a situation or problem that seems huge. Be encouraged. Just like David, you’ve got a God who loves you and who is fighting on your side. Determine to see problems as opportunities for God to move in your life.
