Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Ephesians 1:4

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” – Eph 1:4 (NLT)

Have you ever been chosen last when your friends picked teams in a game? I wasn’t that great at sports and so when I got picked last for a team at recess I hated it! I always wanted to be better at the game and wished that I could avoid getting picked last.

No matter how good or bad you are at a sport or a team, it doesn’t really matter. It’s being chosen that makes you important. And the good news is, God not only did God choose you, but He chose you first. This verse says that God chose you before he made the world. He chose you first. He loved you and wanted you to be a part of His family. So regardless if you feel unloved, chosen last, or ignored, that’s not the truth. God loves you and He chose you first!

Focus on truth. People might be fickle. They might not love you unconditionally, but God does. And it’s His thoughts about you that matter. So focus on what He says and know that you’re loved by Him.

Today’s Truth: God loves you, and you’re His first choice!

god loves you

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalm 34:8

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! – Psalm 34:8 (NKJV)

What is your favorite food? Have you ever given any thought to how that food become your favorite? Most of us simply tried new food, realized it was amazing, and now it’s our favorite.

The same is true with getting to know God. To really get to know Him, you’ve got to try Him. Obviously, you can’t try God like you would try the food, but you can get to know Him. You can pray, read your Bible, listen to teaching on YouTube, or a Podcast, and find out for yourself that He’s good.

The closer you get to God the more you realize that you can trust Him. God isn’t up one day and down the next. He doesn’t have days when He likes you and days when He doesn’t. God is always the same. He’s faithful, and as you get to know Him, you begin to trust Him more.

Today’s Truth: As you get to know God, you begin to realize how good He is!

Choose to make getting to know God more a priority. Decide to put the effort into finding out that He is good!

Psalm 34

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Psalm 35:28

And my tongue will proclaim Your righteousness, Your praise all day long . – Psalm 35:28 (HCSB)

How often do we talk about what is going wrong in our lives? We talk about how things didn’t turn out like we thought, how we have too much stress in our lives, or how we are just disappointed about something. We often let the hurts, disappointments, and stress in our lives become the majority of what we say.

What do you think would happen if we decided instead of talking about all that’s going wrong rather to talk about how good God is? What if we spent some time every day thanking God for all the blessings in our lives and for all the awesome things He has done for us?

A change like that would affect our whole outlook and attitude on life. Instead of walking around without heads down, and being sad, we would have something to be happy about.

We would instantly feel some of the stress of life just leave all because we took some time to speak life-giving words and remind ourselves of all the things we have to thank God for.

Today’s Truth: Choose to change your outlook on life! Be thankful for all God has done.

Challenge yourself today to take some time to praise God for all He has done in your life.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Eph 2:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Eph 2:10

Today’s Bible verse shows us that God didn’t just make you a part of his family. He has also planned GOOD things for us to do.

God doesn’t have bad things in store for your future, only good. You have been created with special gifts and abilities to help others.

Today’s Truth: God has good things in store for you.

In light of that truth, don’t let fear stop you from stepping out and doing the things God has called you to do. Ask God to show you those things. If you stay open, God wants to use you to bless and encourage others.

So today, don’t let anything stop you from doing what God is calling you to do. Be bold and do what He shows you to do.

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Ephesians 1:6

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. – Ephesians 1:6

Have you ever struggled with not feeling like you’re accepted? Maybe you feel like you don’t always fit in at school, or you don’t like how you look.

If you look for them, there are probably tons of reasons why you might feel like you’re not accepted.

Today’s Bible verse helps us. It tells us that God accepted us. And it shows us that God indeed loves us enough to accept us into his family and call us His children.

Our job is simple: Accept Jesus as our savior.

So when those thoughts come that tell you there’s something wrong with you. Your response should be to tell them no. Those thoughts are not the truth. The truth is, you’re accepted by God. Instead, choose to think about that and be happy because you’re accepted!

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Galatians 3:27-28

for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

– Galatians 3:27-28

Sometimes you can feel limited based on your weaknesses. However, these two verses explain that now that you are a Christian, it doesn’t matter.  We all are now on a level playing field with God. Jesus leveled the field and made each of us significant in Him.

We no longer need to compare ourselves to others or feel that we do not measure up. God offers the same goodness and benefits of knowing Him regardless of who you are and where you’ve come from.

Today’s Truth: Choose to let Jesus be the source of your identity.

Today, ask God to show you in the Bible all the things you now are now that you are in Christ. Choose to allow Jesus to be the source of your identity.

Let Jesus be your identity

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – John 3:17

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

– John 3:17 (NIV)

Have you ever thought about the fact that if anyone ever had the right to condemn people it would have been God. Yet, when He sent Jesus His Son into the world, He didn’t condemn people.

God’s desire was to save people.

And we see that desire all throughout the work of Jesus. Jesus continually loved the unlovely and went to great lengths to restore people back to Him.

We often feel that we should tell people what’s wrong with them and that knowing this will drive them to God. Yet, what they really need to know is that God loves them and went to amazing lengths to save them.

Thank God that today He did not condemn you but saved you. Realize you do not need to condemn others but to love them and let them know that God loves them too!

John 3:17

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – John 10:10

“The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” – John 10:10

Many times when bad stuff happens in life, it can be easy to want to blame God. Its easy to get angry at God when something doesn’t go your way or turn out like you expected. However, God shows us in this verse that He isn’t to blame for the bad stuff that happens in life.

Today’s Truth: Jesus came to give you an abundant life!

Jesus came so that we could have life, and have an abundant life. That means a good life, a full life. So when bad things happen, realize that blaming God doesn’t do any good. Jesus came to give us an abundant life!

Today choose to not get mad at God. Instead realize that He came to bring good things to you and stay hopeful knowing that your situation will turn around.

Jesus came to give you an abundant life

Daily Bible Verse and Devotion – Hebrews 10:25

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near – Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)

Today’s Bible verse gives us a challenge. It challenges us to not stop meeting together and going to church. In life, it can be really easy to want to just sleep in instead of going to church. Maybe you had to work late the night before, or are just wanting to enjoy your weekend. Perhaps your friends are doing something fun that you’d rather be doing than going to church. Whatever the case is, its easy to stop going to church. But this verse challenges us to not do that.

HEbrews 10 devotionGoing to church is a great way to keep yourself encouraged in your faith. You can hear preaching that will inspire and challenge you. You can meet and talk to other people who will encourage you in your walk with God.

God is challenging us in this Bible verse to not stop meeting together as believers. God knows that when we meet together we get inspired and challenged to live lives for Him. So don’t give in to the things that would pull you away from going to church. Decide to make meeting with other believers a priority in your life!

Daily Bible Verse & Devotion – Eph 1:4

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: – Ephesians 1:4

This verse shows us how important we are to God. In this scripture, we see that God chose us. When you get to pick your piece of cake at a birthday party, you don’t pick the sad, small piece. No, you pick the best and the biggest. God is no different. He picked you. That means He wanted to know you.  When you realize how much God loves you that can give you a new sense of self-worth.

Ephesians 1:4 teen devotionThe end of the verse tells us that not only did God chose us, but it shows us how He sees us. When God looks at us in the light of what Jesus did on the cross He sees someone who is holy and without blame. He doesn’t see all the areas where you’ve fallen short or messed up. He sees you and He likes what He sees. To Him you’re great. To Him, you matter.

So when you start to get down on yourself or experience a day when you feel like no one cares, remember that God does. He chose you before the foundation of the world. Also, remember that to God you are Holy and blameless. There is nothing that God is holding against you. Jesus’ blood was enough to pay the price for sin and we are now free to live an abundant life in God.
