Daily Devotion and Bible Verse – March 23

Daily devotional and Bible Verse Phil 2:13For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. – Phil 2:13 (NLT)

This verse contradicts many of the beliefs about being a Christian:

  1. First, many believe that to follow God, you have to have a lot of will power. However, this Bible verse states that God is able to work in you the power to do what He wants you to do. You do not have to do it on your own. You don’t have to rely on your own ability to live the Christian life.
  2. Secondly, many believe that following God means doing things you don’t want to do. This could be the case, however, God not only gives you the ability to do what pleases Him, He also gives you the desire to do it. As you follow Jesus, He places His desires in you. You then can trust your desires that they are God leading you. You obviously cannot do this if you are not really delighting yourself in God, but you can if you have.

Following Jesus is awesome! Today, God is working in you. He is placing His desires in you. You don’t have to try and accomplish His desires yourself. He is able to empower you to also do them.
