For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Galatians 5:14
Have you ever been reading a really hard to understand book for school? I remember a few times when I just didn’t understand what I was reading. When I was stumped, I’d get online and read a summary of the chapter I was supposed to be reading. Finding another person’s summary of the chapter helped me. It allowed me to know and understand what I was reading.
This verse is a summary of the law. And just like the summaries I found online, this summary makes it so simple and easy to understand. By simply loving others like we would ourselves, we are fulfilling the law.
We wouldn’t steal from ourselves. We wouldn’t murder ourselves. We are always looking out for our own best interests. However, this verse shows us that we should be treating other people like we treat ourselves. Loving people like this is hard work, but its worth it!
