Run from temptations that capture young people. Always do the right thing. Be faithful, loving, and easy to get along with. Worship with people whose hearts are pure. – 2 Timothy 2:22 (CEV)
It can be easy when you’re young to get caught up in peer pressure. When your friends aren’t making good decisions it can be really hard on you. You might feel pressured to go along with them, or not make good choices.
Today’s Bible verse gives some good advice for those types of situations. It says run. Run away from temptations. For example, if you know there’s going to be a party this weekend with lots of drinking and you don’t want to make a bad choice there, don’t go. Run away from situations that might cause you to do the wrong thing.
Making the right choice might not always be the easiest thing to do, but in the long run you’ll avoid a lot of heartbreak and bad decisions if you do. Remember too that you can win the fight against temptation. You’ve got the greater one living on the inside of you. He will help keep you strong in the midst of peer pressure if you’ll learn to rely on Him and His leading.
